Former Congresswoman Liz Cheney responded to accusations that she destroyed over 100 files related to the January 6 Committee’s investigation. The controversy started after Donald Trump claimed the committee erased evidence that could exonerate him.

 

Rep. Barry Loudermilk also suggested missing documents had been deliberately not preserved. Cheney called Trump’s allegations “ridiculous and false,” asserting there was no factual or constitutional basis for his claims and describing them as an “attack on the rule of law.” This dispute underscores ongoing tensions over the investigation’s handling of evidence.
