More trouble with the law for Donald Trump

More legal issues for Donald Trump

Former President Donald Trump received additional bad news on Thursday when he was accused of fresh offenses. They are accused of planning an attack on people’s constitutional rights, obstructing an official procedure, and scheming to steal funds from the US government.

He is facing charges for allegedly taking part in the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Trump’s legal issues are getting worse as a result of this latest development.

Trump said he was innocent of the charges against him before the Elijah Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse in Washington, D.C. Naturally, video evidence that Trump had provided in May in a defamation case filed by E. Jean Carroll was seen by federal prosecutors in Manhattan. This was before to the hearing.

In one instance, Trump was ordered to pay Carroll $5 million after being found guilty of defamation and sexual assault. The prosecutors have been attempting to obtain access to this video testimony for the criminal trial scheduled for March 2024. Trump is being tried for allegedly paying Stormy Daniels, an adult film star, hush money to silence her about their alleged 2016 presidential affair.

In the Daniels case, Trump was accused of 34 felonies for creating fraudulent company records around March. He entered a not guilty plea and has consistently maintained that he done nothing wrong. Trump has claimed that the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) investigations into him are a “witch hunt.”

Federal prosecutors stated that obtaining Trump’s taped deposition from the Carroll case was crucial, despite the fact that the two Manhattan cases are unrelated. They believe that the allegations that Trump attempted to silence Daniels are related to his remarks regarding sexual misconduct.

However, Trump’s attorneys argued that a protective order should keep the Carroll case evidence private. The legal struggle continues as Trump continues to face more and more legal challenges.

Despite these losses, Trump has remained obstinate. He continues to maintain that he is innocent and unrelated to the alleged offenses. As his trials draw near, the former president is preparing for what appears to be a difficult legal battle.
