Later, he helped the Browns beat the Super Bowl-winning Baltimore Ravens 27\u201317.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15125\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5-2.webp?w=640&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Gay scored a touchdown early in the second quarter that put the Cleveland Browns ahead.<\/p>\n<p>After that, Gay scored only one more touchdown in the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>An obituary says that Gay worked as a welder after leaving the NFL and until he died.<\/p>\n<p>The football star of the past married Margarita in February 2012, and they had three children together: a son, two daughters, and a granddaughter.<\/p>\n<p>Gay was a \u201cstalwart Christian\u201d who went to Fort Morgan, Colorado\u2019s Platte Valley Baptist Church.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe loved to spend time with his family, work on cars, and ensured that the yards of his family members were well cared for,\u201d it says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBenjamin enjoyed staying busy, and was always happy when he had something to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Houston, Texas, Gay was born Benjamin Stevenson Gay Jr.<\/p>\n<div class=\"33920e66fc3f8d7fe9054617d4d84851\" data-index=\"2\"><\/div>\n<p>He was named a USA Today first-team All-American after graduating from Spring High School. After that, he went to Baylor University and Garden City Community College.<\/p>\n<p>He finally got his degree and got a Master\u2019s in Biology.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining the NFL, Gay played for the Edmonton Eskimos in Canada.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15124\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/4-3.webp?w=640&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Numerous tributes to the former football star have been posted on social media in the days following his death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVery sad news: Former #Browns standout running back Ben Gay was killed in a car crash,\u201d a user said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRest in peace, excellent person and teammate. Feeling grateful for the chance to be your Fullback during our Semi-Pro Days. \u201cRelax, bro!\u201d said someone else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just found out that Benjamin Gay died. All of us who knew him are sad about his death. A third person added, \u201cMay he rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you knew high school football back in the late late 90\u2019s in Texas, then you heard of Benjamin Gay,\u201d a person wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy buddy from school, my friend. Excellent running back, the best in the state\u2019s history. Good luck, big dog!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press confirmed the car accident that killed the person.<\/p>\n<p>More information wasn\u2019t available right away.<\/p>\n<p>The Fort Morgan, Colorado-based Rowanoak Mortuary &amp; Crematory is in charge of the funeral plans.<\/p>\n<p>Soon, details about a service for gay people will be made public.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 44-year-old former Cleveland Browns NFL star died in a terrible car accident.
