We have high standards,\u201d she stammered. \u201cHigh standards? Or shallow ones?\u201d I challenged. Lisa, the manager, listened to my story, her expression stern. She called Sophia into her office. After a few minutes, Lisa returned, apologizing and inviting my wife, Emma, to reapply, promising a fair interview.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Emma was hesitant but agreed. A week later, she was warmly welcomed and got the job. Sophia was transferred to another branch. Justice was served, and Emma thrived in her role.
