<\/p>\nA mother of four was shocked when New Hampshire\u2019s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) demanded she surrender the vanity plates she had 15 years.<\/p>\n
The plates are a gentle reminder to each of her sons to use the potty before jumping into the car.<\/p>\n
But, failing to appreciate Wendy Auger\u2019s harmless message, the DMV determined the plates referred to \u201csexual or excretory acts or functions.\u201d<\/p>\n
In 2019, Wendy Auger, of Rochester, New Hampshire, was instructed by New Hampshire\u2019s DMV to turn in the vanity license plate she used for 15 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would just stink if I don\u2019t have it anymore,\u201d said the mother of four, who frequently receives compliments over her hilarious plates.<\/p>\n
Referring to the state\u2019s motto, \u201clive free or die,\u201d Auger then adds, \u201cIf I have to take it off the plate, then I\u2019m not going to be able to live free.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her plates read \u201cPB4WEGO,\u201d which reminds her children that before they hop into the car to \u201cpee before we go.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWho has a mom or dad or parental figure who hasn\u2019t said that to kids before leaving the house?\u201d the paralegal asks. \u201cI\u2019m not the type to sit here with a picket, but come on.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the letter sent by the DMV that demands the surrender of the plates, the combination of letters in her plates refer to \u201csexual or excretory acts or functions.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not a political activist,\u201d she tells CNN. \u201cBut this is a non-offensive thing that I\u2019ve had and it\u2019s part of who we are as a family and who I am and there was zero reason for them to take it away.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the time, Auger had 10 days to turn in her plate and was given the option to choose another customized plate at no extra cost.<\/p>\n
After she received the letter, the woman shared the recall letter on Facebook along with photos of her plates.<\/p>\n
The post went viral.<\/p>\n

One netizen comments on Auger\u2019s social media page: \u201cSuch a ridiculous situation\u2026 Not only is it funny and cute, it\u2019s a really good reminder!\u201d And a second writes, \u201cwhat\u2019s going on?! You\u2019ve had that plate FOREVER.\u201d<\/p>\n
A third offers a solution, \u201cWould that be Pee or Pay\u2026??? lol\u201d<\/p>\n
Responding to the users who encouraged her to petition the recall, Auger shares, \u201cLive free or die my arse,\u201d she shares, later joking, \u201cI think dmv sux will be my next one\u2026but I may get pulled over quite often lol.\u201d<\/p>\n
Making its rounds on social media, her post eventually captured the attention of New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, who overturned the ruling. He left her a message saying: \u201cHey Wendy, I\u2019ts Chris Sununu, How are you? Hey, just want to let you know we took care of that issue\u2026sorry for that little bureaucratic hold up up there\u2026and the push back\u2026but obviously common sense prevailed.\u201d<\/p>\n
On August 28, 2019, Auger shared a new Facebook message, announcing her victory.<\/p>\n
