Many of you may have heard of the veterans discount.<\/strong>\u00a0Those that have served in the military can avail of offers and discounts in many stores and restaurants. Certain privileges come with being a member of the armed services when serving your country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although it may not be anything fancy, these discounts come as a small gesture of appreciation. A tradition that we associate with certain businesses.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A KFC store in Ohio decided to get in on the action lately as well.<\/strong>\u00a0Once the sign was posted by the store it generated multiple online reactions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Generally\u00a0irrespective of time or the date the store policy was to allow all dressed in uniform to dine for free. This original idea was to offer a discount on the chicken to show appreciation to local officers. Ultimately this new policy was about to receive additional attention online.<\/p>\n

Many discussions\u00a0were prompted when this image was posted on a Facebook page called Ohio Going Blue\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite having over 10,000 likes and 6000 shares there were many viewpoints<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Commenters wondered if it was even necessary to give this offer to police. Other remarks indicated that\u00a0as an officer they would prefer not to be given special attention and in fact\u00a0pay for it themselves. Comments from facebook\u00a0page admins:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a positive post, but some of you can\u2019t see the bigger picture. As an officer, I do not go into any establishment expecting ANYTHING to be free if I\u2019m in uniform or not. \u00a0There are other officers who feel similar. We don\u2019t like \u201cspecial treatment\u201d. The reason for the post is because KFC is\u00a0acknowledging law enforcement. To those who stated that other first responders should also be acknowledged. My answer? ABSOLUTELY.\u201d<\/p>\n

The sign will remain posted in the store despite having earned so much media interest.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the officers\u00a0who put their lives\u00a0at risk let this sign serve as a salute to them\u00a0so they know we appreciate their efforts.<\/p>\n
