Shocking pictures and footage showed the exact moment when a FedEx aircraft burst into flames as terrified onlookers started to record the scene.
The giant Boeing 767-300 was seen flying out of New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport but had to make an immediate emergency landing due to a bird striking the right engine.
Air traffic was halted as a precaution for a short period but since then, operations resumed as per the spokesperson at the airport. Thankfully, no injuries were reported and the plane was able to make it back to safety.
After taking off, the plane’s right engine erupted in flames, with onlookers on the ground describing the sounds as a loud boom.
The plane was immediately forced to return to Newark for the emergency landing as per flight data records from FlightAware.
The plane was on its way to Indianapolis as per FedEx. A group of individuals on the ground were able to capture the exact moment near the airport and the person on the ground zoomed in on the plane still in the air as smoke and fire could be seen coming out.
