Heather Unbehaun, who allegedly kidnapped her daughter from an Illinois suburb six years ago, has surrendered, concluding a widely publicized case. Unbehaun is now held at the Kane County Adult Justice Center in Illinois on abduction charges, with bail denied.

Kayla Unbehaun was found unharmed in North Carolina and reunited with her father before Heather turned herself in.

Heather Unbehaun was arrested in North Carolina on kidnapping and child abduction charges based on an Illinois warrant. Initially held on a $250,000 bond, she was later released on bail after posting it, confirmed Samantha Booth, spokesperson for the Asheville Police Department.

On July 4, 2017, Heather informed Kayla’s father, Ryan Iserka, that they were going camping after a parade in South Elgin, Illinois. However, they never returned, leading to a felony warrant for Heather’s arrest.

A breakthrough occurred when someone in Asheville recognized Kayla from the Netflix show “Unsolved Mysteries” and notified authorities.

Ryan Iserka expressed gratitude to the police and supporters for reuniting him with Kayla. Heather Unbehaun is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday morning at the Kane County Judicial Center.
