On January 15, 2025, Cameron Diaz made her red carpet comeback after five years away from the entertainment industry. On seeing her photos and video footage from the special screening of the new movie “Back in Action,” netizens had much to say.

Diaz posed for photos in dark clothing — a long coat, top, and pants — at the event held at Zoo Palast in Berlin, Germany. A Facebook video showed her following instructions from the press as she posed, prompting various comments from fans.

Some viewers shared negative opinions. One person wrote, “That’s so not attractive!” Another Facebook user added, “That outfit doesn’t do her any justice..Bad choice.. (sic)”

Someone else questioned, “Is she wearing a tent store?” After seeing more images of the actress signing autographs and posing with her co-star and long-time friend Jamie Foxx, an Instagram user claimed, “she (sic) forgot to do her hair.”

However, not all the comments were negative. One person remarked, “Beautiful and natural. Not full of filler and botox!”

Another pleased fan praised Diaz, “So great to see her NATURAL face .”

A thrilled netizen tagged the star and wrote, “Happy she’s back! Looking amazing ,” while another commented, “She doesn’t age she’s so gorgeous. (sic)” Someone else noted, “Is this her now? She looks amazing!”

Unfortunately, the New York City premiere of Diaz’s new movie which was set for January 2, 2025, was canceled due to the Los Angeles fires. In a statement released by Netflix the day before, they said, “We recognize many in our industry and their loved ones are currently affected, and our thoughts are with them at this time.”

The last film Diaz appeared in was 2014’s spy action comedy “Annie,” where she also starred alongside Foxx. On December 16, 2014, the actress attended the photocall for the movie at Corinthia Hotel London in England. For that occasion, she wore a white shirt beneath a black jersey.

While the “Back in Action” premiere marked her return to the red carpet, Cameron Diaz made several appearances in 2024, including at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit in October.

At the event, she discussed her decision to step away from acting nearly a decade ago, “For me, it was just something I had to do. It felt like something I had to do to reclaim my own life. And I just really didn’t care about anything else. I didn’t.”

She further stated, “Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have. So, I think it really comes to: What are you passionate about? For me, it was to build my family.”

During her hiatus, Diaz and her musician husband, Benjamin Madden, built their family by welcoming two children. On January 3, 2020, her husband shared an Instagram post written by him and his wife, revealing they were starting the New Year with the birth of their first child, daughter Raddix Madden.

The happy couple wrote, “She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.” However, they stated they wouldn’t share any photos or additional details about their daughter to protect her privacy.

On March 23, 2024, the couple shared more good news: the birth of their son, Cardinal Madden. Diaz and her husband repeated their decision not to post photos of their son to safeguard his privacy.

Just as they did when announcing their daughter’s birth, the pair shared that their son was “really cute.” They concluded, “We are feeling so blessed and grateful  Sending much love from our fam to yours  Best wishes and Good Afternoon!! .”

Although she’s still focused on being a present parent, hopefully, Diaz will continue gracing us with her presence now that she’s broken her hiatus.
