Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been making bold claims about government expenditures, including the possible disappearance of the gold. His comments were posted on his social media platform, X, where he asked if the gold had “gone missing.”

In response, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent assured the public that the gold is safe, confirming that annual audits are conducted, with the most recent one scheduled for September 2024. He also invited U.S. senators to visit Fort Knox to verify the gold’s presence.
