President Donald Trump plans to pressure New York into scrapping Manhattan’s congestion pricing by leveraging the Department of Transportation, which could withhold federal funds or reopen environmental reviews.

Trump, who has discussed the issue with Gov. Kathy Hochul, called the $9 toll “destructive” and vowed to eliminate it if necessary. He also criticized bike lanes and pedestrian areas, blaming them for increased congestion and safety issues.

Additionally, Trump warned that his Justice Department will target New York’s “sanctuary” policies, potentially suing the state and city for hindering federal immigration enforcement.

He argued that sanctuary cities only protect criminals, echoing recent DOJ actions against Illinois and Chicago leaders.
